Selecting the best family for you

Once you have registered with En Famille Overseas, giving us the necessary information about yourself, we begin the search for the right family for you. We do this even when you are attending a school rather than being "en famille" full time. For example, if you are keen on sailing, or golf, or music, then we will do our best find you a family with similar interests. A host family can vary from one person or a couple to a big family with many children. Where you stay dictates to a degree what family we find for example in big cities such as Barcelona many of our host families are couples or single people and many people live in apartments, whereas in France more often people live in houses. However the quality of welcome and interest that they show towards you will not vary.

The way it works

You register with En Famille Overseas and pay a deposit, then we find you a family and make the arrangements for your stay, based on the information you have given us. We then invoice you for the remainder, and once you have settled the invoice for the homestay you are given full details of the hostess' address and can make contact with them yourself. This is often the beginning of a very happy friendship, which can last for years.

Costs and Travel arrangements

The cost of a week with full board, including your three year registration, the booking fee, being met at and returned to an airport, fifteen hours of one-to-one tuition, enjoying all the benefits of a delightful family and home life, outings, a social events is from around £700.00. Subsequent weeks cost less. We find it best if you make your own travel arrangements. You can arrange them with your local agent or on the Web and there is a "both ways" meeting service the other end should you wish it. You will be given a booking form for this. You will also need valid holiday insurance which can be arranged for you by us.

We have colleagues whom we know personally in all the countries with whom we work who oversee your visit to their country.

Learning English in Great Britain

We provide a similar service for non-English speakers who would like to come to the UK to learn English. Learners of English can come through our Agency to stay with families in England, and receive tuition within the host family. Our families in England are largely in the South East, with easy access by rail and air, although we do have families further afield too. We can also arrange tuition in a local small school of excellent reputation.
